VoicesNet Forum Moderators Burn the Midnight Oil

So...who are we? What do we do? and why should you care?

Well, first, I am ''Insanity-Mod Assist''. Well, that's my screen name that everybody knows and loves me by at the VoicesNet.com forums. I am what is known as a Moderator Assistant.

A Moderator is a volunteer site member who agrees to help reply to posts in our forums and to make sure that posts meet the VoicesNet submission guidelines.

A Moderator Assistant is a Moderator under the age of 19, and therefore not eligible to be a Full Moderator.

I Moderate 'Love Poems In The Works,' 'Darker Poems Still In The Shadows,' 'Other Poems to critique,' and 'Religious Poems Still Being Worked On.'

The 'Incomplete' section of poetry is what takes up most of our time as moderators. People ask what we think and feel about their writing as well as to help them improve, so that in time they will fulfill their writing potential.

I am also a Moderator Assistant in the 'Completed Love Poetry,' 'Completed Dark Poetry,' 'Completed Other Poetry' 'Completed Religious Poems' and 'Completed Sports Poetry.' forums. I hope to, in time, take on the role of Moderator Assistant for 'Completed Family Poems.'

So why do I choose to participate as a Moderator at Voices.net? When I first joined VoicesNet, I received so much kindness and assistance with my poetry that I felt it was only right to give something back to this prospering community. I enjoy reaching inside the poems and feeling the emotion and depth with which they were written. In total there are 3 Mod Assistants: Me , Squall and Aled_Dilwyn Fisher. There are 15 Moderators, three of whom are Administrators. We all have duties and guidelines that we follow to help to guard our contributing poets and their intellectual property. We protect their copyright as well as check for harmful or inappropriate content in both poems and postings.

Remember, Moderators don't just look after forums; we look after you.

Some bad days as a Moderator do occur. Fellow staff sometimes aren't around to help when a sudden flood of postings needs to be checked. You never know where to begin, and often the stress levels are high. The opposite situation is not better. The site goes through times of few postings and you seem to be the last one to post on every one of your forums. However, these problems rarely arise and the job has many good days where the forums are full of new posts on a wide spectrum of issues and from various viewpoints. Having the rest of the staff to help also keeps the forum constantly moving and growing here at VoicesNet.

And so: We are the Mod Squad! We give our time and energy to help poets and posters grow and prosper, gaining even greater fulfillment from their already beautiful work. You. Yes, you should care because you never know when your own poetry will need our help.
