Well that's a promising start Westly. Shows you're made of the right mettle. Will give it a more closer look later on, but for now, I'm most impressed. Who says yu can't teach a Writer of free verse, new tricks? Others should try it. Good for you. Ciao for now. Denis.

This poem creates a double dialogue between yourself and anyone of the readers who can 'smell" the same emotional question. Be safe my friend. Warmest greetings from Greece.

Nishu, glad I made you smile. Sometimes when I read your poems I close my eyes and image what your like. I image your like the gentle breeze ,no bad words for anyone. Midnight colored hair and huge brown eyes, with the wisdom of an owl. A beautiful package and gift inside and out! It would be interesting to write a poem about the poets on VN ,from just reading their poetry. Then the receiver can write a poem back, how they see themselves. Thanks again!

Comment to Westly. Somehow Westly I think I would have fun - even if I was sick - with you as my nurse, for I'm sure you could take my mind of the present crisis, which ise enough to make any thinking person ill! Not that I need - fingers crossed - help other than as a guide to manoeuvre me around obstacles I once saw clearly. Life can hand us some bad happenings, but none are seen as bad when a 'friend; is there to help us navigate them. By the way, giving advice regarding writing in rhyme? I tried sending you a poem mail but was told you were too young for such correspondence? It needs someone far more competent than me for that task. It is something I learned when a schoolboy, and have enjoyed it ever since. It was and remains a challenge. If you read my blog which is a copy of what George Bernard Shaw wrote regarding the English language (Under Documents) here on VN? You will realise that many take a look at spelling and pronunciation and move on to free verse. Add a dialectic slant to it, and the task of teaching rhyme, is not for me. I have written some poems in my own Dorset UK Dialect, and believe you me, it is a foreign tongue to most readers. If I had one thing to add, it is that I find, personally speaking, pronunciation is more important than spelling. Perhaps there is a site that might help? But what? I have no idea. Fondest regards. Denis. Incidentally I have a personal nurse, that is called Pauline. I married her 65 years ago! Lol.

Special praises to you too, Site Monitor, for perpetuating and maintaining this website for all its users, members, guests or otherwise so that Jeffrey’s legacy continues to connect people. Thank you Adam for this beautiful tribute to Jeff. I don't think Jeff had any idea the impact the VN site would have when he started it in 2002. Jeff's wish was to bring people together in a safe space online, hopefully, making some lasting friendships. His wish was certainly granted.
