When I least expect it - your standing right there
There for a second - then gone somewhere
I know who you are and why you're here
You're afraid to leave - so you stay near
I feel your presence - in all that I do
I see you here - but I'm not afraid of you
Your spirit does not scare me-although maybe it should
I wouldn't tell you to leave - even if I could
You never did listen - to what I said
So I cherish each time - I see you instead
I hear not a sound nor see anything move
There's only you - when you walk through the room
I saw you last night - you walked through the hall
I looked and you were gone-which didn't surprise me at all
The children were sleeping - or so I thought
It was so quiet - it was only you that walked
I thought of you and wondered why
You'd go where they - were sleeping that night
I thought maybe you - just wanted to see
The peacefulness - of them while they sleep
I got up and went - to where I saw you go
I thought they were sleeping but little did I know
It was clear to me - when I opened the door
What it was - you went in that room for
Your grand daughter was reading - from a book
To her little sister - as you said they should
How proud you must have been to see them that way
Doing what you taught and living by what you say
Reading to eachother - always made you smile
Did you think they would stop doing it after all this while
I always make it a point to let them know youre around
Even though they do not see you and you don't make a sound
They still know you are here they feel you somehow
In the hearts of my children is where you live now
So late at night when you walk through my home
Don't think I don't know - that I'm not alone
