Two Poems from our Animals Poetry Collection

The world in the eyes of a whale

Author: Karen Feun

Poem:
The world in the eyes of a whale

The World in the eyes of a whale

They swim so gracefully
They look like big ghosts
In the sky

The world behind them
Looks like a huge marble
Clouds scattered

The world was once ruled
By their ancestors Creatures
That ruled the seas

The water is warm It looks as if
You could never come out again
Whales now rule the water

As their relatives once
Did in the old days

Sun reflects off it
Giving the water a soft
Tone to it

Whales fly across the pitch
Black night it looks like it
Could go on forever

The suns coming out it’s now
Time to go back into the deep
Depths of the ocean

To sleep until the next night comes
We rule the world of the sea, but will
We always rule the world?

Perhaps we will one day or
Maybe not, but at least we
Had our turn

The hawk

Author: Amber Marley

Poem: The hawk

Spread your wings and fly
You, master of the sunlit sky
Take your approach as you demand
Oh, king of all you command
Dive into the ocean's roar
Graceful as you upward soar
Show off your immaculate shine
As the sun glistens upon your spine
With all power you control
Fearful creatures down below
How magnificiently you abound
Above all things in the air and on the ground
You fly as if you own it all
My astounding and alluring hawk
