Oh! How I long to be a bird, To spread my wings and fly away, So beauteous thing no rival heard, And choice to go and not to stay, So far, so fast could I then leave, Brush with wings the tops of trees, And leave behind forever more, The fallen nest I had before, I'd beat my wings 'till humming sounds, And then I'd be just off the ground, After that I'd be up high, A new dimension, Clear blue sky, Oh, to be free, So new to me, But alas! Such fate is not mine, All my life caged I'll be, I won't be free 'till death comes nigh. |
