A TRIBUTE TO OUR FURRY FRIENDS

Author: Kim Wierenga

Poem:
A TRIBUTE TO OUR FURRY FRIENDS

  Some of us have pets, some big and some small,
and we come to love them all.
One of God's greatest creations,
and with each one we have a special relation.

They're with us in the good times and see us through the bad, and when we look back, to have had them we are glad,
Even if they've sprayed or dug up plants and made us mad,
in the end to lose them makes us very, very sad.

We never, ever dare to think of the time that is "the end,"
for it hurts to much to think that we may lose our furry friend.

They think that we belong to them and not the other way around;
they like to bring inside the home whatever they have found.

Sometimes there are tough decisions, sometimes we have no choice,
we have to act on their behalf because
they have no voice.

That's just the way life goes - there's not much we can do,
but return to them the love they give us and triple it times two.

That unconditional love we get is a blessing from above,
sent to us with a purpose: to pet, feed, cherish and love.
We are with are pets through every step and stage,
and like us all, they eventually age.

And in the end when we must part,
we'll always have them in our heart;
But good-bye is never forever,
because there are precious memories that we will always treasure.

THE WHITE COFFIN

Author: Hannah Kenyon

Poem: THE WHITE COFFIN

Treading through the heavy snow, the pony knows the way,
Always on an invisible track, walking through each day.
Her hopes are gone, her strength is low, and the sparkle from her has left,
She once was loved, she once had care, but then she was a friend, a pet.
She whinnies high, but she feels low, half way to her home,
But she knows the truth, that by nightfall, she will be covered up by snow.
