Two Poems from our Anniversary Poetry Collection

HER

Author: William Bumgardner

Poem:
HER

Her smile radiates a warm happiness that employs a joy which rouses my soul.

Her eyes face my direction and melt away my cold masculine identity.

Her ability to look past my frailty of character is her strength of purity that labors towards peace without war.

Undeserved love, absent of edges is her goal; Consequently, truth, honor, and grace follow her.

A Decade Gone

Author: Lara Patton

Poem: A Decade Gone

That morning will be a decade gone this year
The morning that began my fears
The gun shot rang throughout the house
And shattered the secure world I live in
The piercing scream that Mommy let out
Broke my heart and haunts my dreams

That morning will be a decade gone this year
The morning that began my new life
No mom? Yes, she's gone
I have Daddy though; he's the mom now
That morning of horror was meant to be... right?
That morning of end and beginnings
