Two Poems from our Anniversary Poetry Collection

FROM DAY 1

Author: Ben Simmons

Poem:
FROM DAY 1

From the very first time we met,
I always knew we were meant to be.
The moments that we shared together,
Were so very, very special to me.

The way you hold me in your arms,
and the look you give me with your eyes.
They give me that certain special feeling,
that words just absolutely cannot describe.

You and I are inseparable for life
and nothing can come between us.
I believe in you like you believe in me,
and it is in God that we put all of our trust.

Through these glorious years so far,
and my love has sparked a flame.
I anxiously await that blessed day
that we share the same last name

I RECALL

Author: Philip Wardlow

Poem: I RECALL

I recall her smile the first time I saw her
Radiant and warm with a hint of
Laughter at the edges

I recall her eyes
Deep and blue; eyes you didn’t lie to
Because they could see right through you.

I recall many things about her
As I sit on my front porch swing
Gazing up at the nighttime sky.
Thinking. Just thinking.

Bringing the past to the present
As I so often do.

I recall the sway of her hips.
A woman’s hips
Hands, my hands enveloping her from behind in
A loving embrace.

I recall her smell; fresh and sweet like vanilla ice cream
topped with raspberry syrup.

My mind likes to wander to thoughts of her
The wonder of her.

My wife, and my life.

I recall it all.
