Two Poems from our Anniversary Poetry Collection

COLD NIGHTS

Author: Rusty Morgan

Poem:
COLD NIGHTS

Deep softness of late night, velvet and supple
Thoughts run full in this hour
Passing the time with labored memories
An old friend comes to mind nowadays
Gone she is, an echo remains
Silence awakens her from the dust of the attic
Gliding down the stairs of reflection
Moonlight through the shutters announces her entrance
Rain declares her departure; shadows lies in wait
To enchant the sense of reality again and again
She will never leave; the company is too strong

Long meandering our road is together, thousands of miles it seems
Along this highway are recollections of times that used to be
In the tranquil thoughts of innocent touches
Persuaded to roam in the hours of my passing days
Conceived in the sounds of forgotten music
Forged in the depths of black midnight
Left to live in the alleys of my mind

Wind blows the smoke from the exhale
Whisking away all moments which come to mind
Careless smoldering misery of the times of yore
Red cherry cigarette defies hours of darkness
Swig of alcohol traps the residue of drifting without end
Alone in the twelfth stroke; caught without happiness
Perplexed in a fact of not knowing why

Wetness fell from a hole in the sky
Slipping through cracks in my mind
Splitting apart foundations of stability
Lovable moisture; gliding down my cheek
Lost at my feet
Gathering in puddles
Warm light of the fireside; frost on the window
Iciness left to hold December on my mind
Gone with the express train bound for tomorrow
To the frigid north she travels…

YOUR LOVE IS ENDLESS

Author: Miranda Lewis

Poem: YOUR LOVE IS ENDLESS

You loved me whenever
no one else would

I had a rough time and
by my side you stood

I was so lost I didn't
know what to do

until you came around
and made my dream come true

I never really knew what
would have become of me

you opened up my eyes and
now I am able to see

I just wish there was
some way that I could repay

but I know I'll love you from now
until the end of my day.
