Two Poems from our Anniversary Poetry Collection

WHO, WHAT, WHY

Author: Mary Redmond

Poem:
WHO, WHAT, WHY

I sit here and look through the window by the door
The pain is so much I just want to roar
The trees in the wind are swaying left to right
while the singing birds are no longer in sight

I step out of my body and wonder who I am
and look back through the eyes of someone who is calm.
The purpose of me being here is what I want to know.
When every day is a struggle and I constantly feel low.

Up every morning, working nine to five
like a human robot, trying to survive
life is a journey, but when does it start
As soon as you realise you're ready to depart.

IT'S SCIENTIST'S BUSINESS

Author: Sabelo Thabethe

Poem: IT'S SCIENTIST'S BUSINESS

Why do I want to count days
That I never saw when started.
Why do I claim to know things
That will never change

Why do I weigh myself upon fictuous entity
Entitled by a creature.
Why do I hate the colour that will
Never be my reflection.

Why do I want to change my lifestyle
From Noah days to nowadays.
Why do I get devised on inventions?
Oh, I can see, it’s scientist's business
