Two Poems from our Babies, Baby Showers Poetry Collection

A baby’s thoughts

Author: Daniel Griffin

Poem:
A baby’s thoughts

I open up my little eyes and I see a small body to my surprise,
I’ve ten little fingers and ten little toes,
Two little eyes and a cute button nose.
I’ve two tiny legs and a very small chest,
But I can kick with the best.
I’ve been floating around now for a very long time,
But each day I grow stronger and now I can whine.
Now all this fluids gone away and for the first time I can see a light today,
I turn myself upside down and I head towards the light,
Then someone grabs me and picks me up and says that I’m all right.
I get handed around to a lot of people who are laughing and full of joy,
Then someone turns me upside down and says I’m a baby boy!!
And even with my little ears all around I can hear big cheers.
I don’t know where I am right now,
And I wonder what am I?
But I’m sure I’ll learn all this as the years go by.

Fate

Author: Erin James

Poem: Fate

My heart, it aches
The tears are gone
I'm over you
And I'm through
With this nightmare
With this dream
I'm over you
So let it be
How you're so perfect
I cannot explain
I want you back
Here, to stay
What is wrong
I think I'm dying
Hold on tight
Don't stop trying
Let it out
Before it's too late
Show your true self
It's called fate
