Two Poems from our Babies, Baby Showers Poetry Collection

OF THE FIRST WATER

Author: Gloria Woody

Poem:
OF THE FIRST WATER

watersick dormant i stay in this waterish realm
until something happens
awaiting until the very end
later someone waits up for me
in waiting of the first water
i lie in wait

wateriness nature i sail,
i swim toward destiny unknown
waterward the ocean depth, seas, sky the limit
places to make ones mouth water
water witch bird sings like water clear and smooth flowing overhead
as i a pageant exhibition in my liquescence transparent
waterborne afloat steady, unswaying beginning excursion into existence

i take waters
departure the body from its steadfast position
unchanged, unswerving
back water reversing my course
hold water i remain the test against remorse
threatened make water, waterless, water down

in the beginning the initial attraction magnetism
how i got started, to do the first part
to get something going originate and create
bring into being
this thing, this object, deed to be done
a bond binding everlasting as one

courtship appropriate social engagements to date
an experience of warm liking
taking possession, set apart for ones own purpose
positive thoughts of respect
loyalty and devotion
neverending amorous

winning attachment a tender touch,
enchantment, embrace
travel into ecstasy
expend, entirely devour
with fruitful feelings
vows made to eternally cower
partaking of her flower

A Baby's Secret

Author: Andrea Brigstock

Poem: A Baby's Secret

I'm just a little feller
who didn't quite make it there
I went straight to be with Jesus
but I'm waiting for you here

Don't you fret about me mommy
I'm of all God's lambs most blessed;
I'd have loved to stay there with you
but the shepherd knows what's best.

Many dwelling here where I live
waited years to enter in
struggled through a world of sorrow
and their lives were marred with sin.

So sweet mommy don't you sorrow
wipe those tears and chase the gloom,
I went straight to Jesus's bosom
from my lovely mothers womb.

Thank you for the life you gave me,
it was brief but don't complain;
I have all of Heaven's glory
suffered none of Earthling's pain.

Thank you for the name you gave me
I'd have loved to brought it fame
but if I'd lingered in Earth's shadows
might instead have brought in shame.

Daddy gave me something for you
it's our secret, mommy dear,
pressed it tight against my forehead
whispered in my tiny ear.

I'll be waiting for you mommy-
you and daddy, bud and sis
I'll be with you then forever,
and I'll give you daddy's kiss.
