The crowd goes quiet all eyes on you step up to the line as the reff yells two Take a deep breath and clear you mind forget all the people and the coach thats behinde Dont focus on the score for its just a number do this for yourself and for every team member Look up at the board and get a good grip the last thing you need is for the damn thing to slip Up goes the ball with a flick of a wrist the next thing you know it hits the rim... youve missed With a oooh and an ahhh the crowds dissapointed but never mind them theres one more to be counted Now it seems like forever you'd think we'd be done but the reff throws the ball and this time yells one Just one more point and we win the game and every soul in the stand will well know your name Take one more dribble your more focused then ever you know everyones watching but shake it off with whatever Lift up your head and open your eyes take every bad comment as just stupid lies You know you can do it and you'll prove them all wrong sooner then you know it they'll be cheering along Staring at the basket you hope for a swish just one more chance so make a quick wish Again flys the ball and you watch in slow-mo will it go in this time? we sure all hope so Tonight will make up for all the practice and training the seasons now over theres no time remaining The only thing left is the shot that your taking and the time that it took will be well worth the waiting Down goes the ball but no sound of a swish just the bounce off the backboard you didnt get your last wish But the croud goes wild all cheering and smiling this kids on fire 911 they'll be dialing Yes in off the glass beats a swish anyday now thats the great game we all love to play

WHY DO WE? |

|
Why? Why do we run back and forth night after night? Running so hard we throw up Running so hard your heart beat rings in your head while your lungs are grasping for air. Late nights early mornings, Friday nights Saturday evenings, broken bones, torn muscles and deep bruises We run through it all. Because we live off our adrenaline, because the game frees your spirit, because the party in the locker room is fine because your invincible once you step on the court because a shot can make you smile all night, squeek of your shoes, the rattling of the boards, the feel of the ball, and shoes pounding into the floor is a rhythm to live by, because its possible to run fast enough to leave all ur worries behind. Sweat is the perfume of our accomplishment. Why? Why would someone push themselves so hard? Its not 4 the money, and its not 4 the fame. We do it because we love it..we love the game of basketball
