I was getting ready for a move and packing up my flat When I was interrupted by guest brought in by my kitty cat I was in my bed room when I heard a little tweet To my surprise in my kitchen fluttered a yellow parakeet My intrepid kitty, Pixie, had carried it in her jaws up the balcony, across the porch and held it gently in her claws She hadn’t harmed a feather but was getting ready for a feast I said “Pixie, drop it, you clever little beast” She did, and I retrieved the bird It was elegant and lofty I held it closely to my chest and whispered to it softly “What on earth am I to do with you? You can see I have two cats” It looked me in the eye and shrugged, flew off, and that was that Down it flew to the yard below, landed, took a breath Another kitty came along and the poor bird met its death
The cool breeze of the ocean mist, Like a soft refreshing kiss. I sit on the sand and watch the birds, A feeling so good, too sweet for words. I love the water and I love the sound, Of oceans waves crashing all around.
