Two Poems from our Cats Poetry Collection

Lil' Missy McFurperson

Author: Joan marie Leverone

Poem:
Lil' Missy McFurperson

Lil' Missy Mcfurperson came to live with us.
She didn't get here by plane or train or bus.
Her owners didn't want her and left her behind.
The SPCA sprang to mind, but it seemed so unkind.

A cat that nobody wanted
Would be put to death, unwarranted.
I knew she wouldn't last
Having been caged in the past.

She was going to be an orphan cat.
We couldn't leave her,not where she was at.
We bundle her up and took her home.
Now she's with us and not alone.

THE CAT

Author: Katherine Deschenes

Poem: THE CAT

The cat is a wondrous creature
With magnificent and beautiful features
Although the hair can be a worry,
As it causes everything to be furry.

They protect our home from things they see
Like mice, bugs, other cats and even doggies.
But it’s the unseen things that worry me most
When the cat seems to chase an unseen ghost.

A cat can cause debris where ever it goes
Stuff that seems to show up on rugs under your toes
We feed them, brush them and take care of the felines
I think the cats can control our little minds.

For even when they seem to be at their worst
We still love them so and feel our heart will burst.
When we have bad days and lost our direction,
They will come to us with much care and affection.

Oh wondrous cat that we adore,
Who has the ability to fly along the floor.
Who loves us without rhyme or reason
To not love you, would be treason.

So to you fellow cat lover, I give a wave,
From Pipsqueek and Katie, his human slave.
