Two Poems from our Dark Poems, Depressing Poems, Death Poetry Collection

DEATH

Author: Bharatram Gaba

Poem:
DEATH

  I lie by the window,
Waiting for that eternity –
Death.

I can hear the waves
Splashing against the rocks,
I ache to get up from my bed
And glance out the window,
At those faithful waves
Which break as the sea
Dashes them ‘gainst the rocks,
Smashing them.
But yet,
The waves go back to the ocean
Without a grievance, only
To be broken again.
I long to look at their dance,
But I cannot.

I cannot from the while that killer
Overcame me.
That dreaded killer called cancer.
Those unwanted cells
That give you pain,
And kill you slowly,
Singing a lullaby,
Making you sway,
Putting you to bed,
And then, to sleep.

A sleep so peaceful,
That you neither stir,
Nor wake.
A peace that is shattered only
By peace.

I watch the sun going down,
Drowning in my window sill.
The light around me
Is tinged orange.
How similar are the two –
The twilight of the day,
And the one in my life.

As the sun sets,
Another day goes by.
One day less
As I lie by the window,
Waiting for that eternity –
Death.

A STORY UNFOLDS

Author: Jm Santiago

Poem: A STORY UNFOLDS

It's been more than five years since we wed
shared the same food and the same bed
I laughed at your antics
You criticized my basics

Before, we never argued on big things
Just on some small misunderstandings
Didn't expect this huge obstacle to come
And strangers is now what we become

Was our marriage a mistake?
that now everything we have to fake?
The smiles, the laughs, the give and take
What we do and what we make

Shattered dreams and false hopes
is this how we have to cope?
Or can we still mend this crack?
And have what we had back
