Two Poems from our Dark Poems, Depressing Poems, Death Poetry Collection

DEATH

Author: Praveen Chandra

Poem:
DEATH

  Don’t I know-when
The sunset, red, draws
And the flowers wither to a shuddering end-
Death, my mate, will call.

Yes! But…..
I have
A thousand smiles to make,
And a million prayers to chant.

I want
The fiery dust
To blaze my name with every passing tread

But, like waves inevitable
Death will break,
Silently
Or perhaps violently
And I’ll pass
Into the unknown bourn
For ever…. for ever!

LIFE

Author: Praveen Chandra

Poem: LIFE

I saw life
In its myriad colours
As a galaxy of feelings.
Wealth…. Happiness….
Joy abounded
Like cascading waterfalls….
Never ending.
Wealth is
The secret of happiness
But somewhere below a mound of it
Plaintive cries rise.
The glint of gold
Turned men blind
And still
Men rush towards it
Only to return with
a scorching emptiness in their hands.
And where did it all end?
In…
Turmoil…? Sadness……?
Nay……!
In death I saw the ultimate.
