Two Poems from our Dark Poems, Depressing Poems, Death Poetry Collection

The Epic

Author: Osmer Balam

Poem:
The Epic

Perhaps you were not meant for me
And as the cold earth pulled down the aching sepal
The last line in the book was read –
First, the sun shimmered and then, flew the petal…

And what a peculiar end to such an epic!
My desolate spirit - terribly wounded, mutilated –
Oh long gone catharsis! I'm finding the cure for the disease
That for me - in clandestine laboratories - your kisses created.

Now my heart, lost in solitude, wakes up only to breathe
Hope - the deadly scent of my misty earth’s tribulation.
And though I know what I feel and what I want
I still don't know how to start writing my love’s resignation.

Do I KnowYou?

Author: Rachel Walsworth

Poem: Do I KnowYou?

There's a tale to be told by every living soul.
We each have a story, waiting to be written.
Mine just happens to be from prison. Not just any prison, but a prison of mind.
I'm trapped by the force who wont let me go. I'm confined to a life of lonliness and hate. Alone in this world, nobody to talk to except for this person looking back at me, mocking me. This person who knows everything about me, but does nothing to help.
I cry,
she cries.
I do not have the courage to try and escape, in fear of being caught
Conversations go around in circles. The same thing back and forth, I get used to her copying me, and learn to enjoy her company. We soon can talk for hours. I laugh at the faces she makes at me. I soon know everything about her, as she knows everything about me.
But as my tears start to dry, my vision starts getting clearer. My dream fades to reality and I realize,
she's only a mirror.
