Two Poems from our Dark Poems, Depressing Poems, Death Poetry Collection

I WHO WALK ALONE IN THIS WORLD

Author: Christina Wall

Poem:
I WHO WALK ALONE IN THIS WORLD

I who walk alone in this world wrapped in the arms of the past not knowing what lies ahead of me. What am I? A soulless being to be beaten by the rage of those who hate me? Cutting my way past hopes and dreams. Sit in the window sill as I do every day and night resignations on my slate of who I am and what is left behind. Concealed in the words that chases my every thought. I who walk alone in this world…

Reason to reason

Author: Ben Otieno

Poem: Reason to reason

It is so unfortunate to inhale
The choking smoke of racial arrogance
It is so rueful to still burn
From the raging embers of cultural intolerance
That Flicker on the candles of ignorance

It is so lugubrious to reason
With minds that feign intelligence
Only to cripple their understanding
On the critical moment of interaction
Where a wise temper is on demand

I was born on the plateaus
But met you on the mountains
I hunted for food in the Maasai Mara
As you flipped burgers at McDonalds
But I am no less a mind than you
Only if you could listen to my reasons
For what I talk and write about
I really mean to do for a reason
