Two Poems from our Dark Poems, Depressing Poems, Death Poetry Collection

No More Happy Ending

Author: Babs Cunningham

Poem:
No More Happy Ending

  No magic moment to forever linger
No down on one knee
No ring on my finger
No church rehearsal or wedding bell
No wedding gown
No stories to tell
No wedding band of silver or gold
No honeymoon
Not to have or to hold
No beginning our lives
Learning about each other
Your time with me
Was always spent with another

Our very first year
We bearly pulled through
I was almost ready
To give up on you
Then for the second and third years
We were teaching each other
To listen, respect
And to love one another
But then came the fourth year
And you suddenly changed
Your drinking got heavier
And you started to change
Saying mean statements that were
Filled with hate
Unforgiveable words that slowly
Damned our fate

Now you are so hateful
And I am so bitter
I want to let go of you
But I hate being a quitter
The man I once knew and loved
Is now forever gone
The monster I'm married to now
Everyday just lives on
No more waking up with sunshine
No future plans
No rainbows
No whispers in the dark
No more late nights
In the shadows
No more kisses upon my lips
No more sweetness...
We're pretending
The fairytale cannot come true
There is no happy ending.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

Author: Deanna Dilley

Poem: IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

In the middle of the night,
when the sky looks dark and gray;
ghosts appear in a little room
inside this tiny shack.
Noises can be heard from days in our past.
Toys are moving about the room;
yet children are not around.
You see a dog's tennis ball,
but where is the dog?
How can this be possible?
No one's set foot here in years.

In the middle of the night,
when the sky is dark and gray;
rocking chairs sway back and forth.
Mothers are singing their babies to sleep.
Bottles are lifted in mid-air.
Cribs seem empty, yet mobiles spin round and round.
You wonder if this can be real.
As a child you told ghost stories
and you watched "Ghost Busters."
Wasn't that all make believe?

In the middle of the night,
when the sky seems dark and gray;
You sit in an old beat up chair
and have shivers down your spine.
Doors slam shut.
Drawers open and close,
with clothes flying everywhere.
Gates swing back and forth,
with various families running in and out.

In the middle of the night,
when the sky turns dark and gray;
memories of our past
run quickly through your mind.
Children's faces now look sullen
and you can't imagine why.
Where once these children sang and play;
they now needed to escape.
As Halloween approached them,
they turned the other way.

In the middle of the night,
when the sky became dark and gray;
families lay sprawled out on the floor.
There was nothing but dismay.
How does one picture such a grusome sight?
Can it all just be happening
in your imaginative mind?

To this very day,
no one knows what happened
in the middle of the night,
when the sky was dark and gray.
