John 21 v 3 "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said we'll go with you. So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

When God speaks, things happen. But how do we hear? It certainly was noticed during most of my past years at work, I was such a quiet person, very little time spent joining or mixing in, why? I was listening!

When God speaks to us in our lives, things truly happen and on this day the fishermen were out to catch fish, out for a very long time but caught nothing! Seasoned fishermen had'nt caught anything and Jesus said to them, "put your nets down the right." Which they did and an amazing catch of fish were caught that they could not even draw in. Seasoned fishermen and Jesus a carpenter telling them how to fish. John 21 v 7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say this, he wrapped his outer garment around him and jumped into the water. When God speaks, things happen and sometimes in our lives we don't wonder, "Why is it going like this?"

As in our christian lives we could be doing things that do not seem to work out, or things arn't happening the way we hoped. If we can hear God in our lives, know the will and find the purpose of God, when He speaks into our life, something will happen. A word from Him makes the difference in our lives. We live in an age where we sort it out for ourselves, we have our own plans and decisions. The human spirit is the captain of our soul, we are in charge, the captain of the food chain. Many christians still behave as if they were in charge. We make our plans , but with God at the centre, so it is important that we live our lives and live for His purpose. How do we know His purpose? We need to hear Him! The fishermen did'nt recognise Jesus but they still did what He told them, there was something inside them that obeyed. To do the will of God we need to know and discern His voice.

I certainly do hear many voices crying out during the day, what is needed, how it should be, have you done this, whats that, at what time, at what place, is a start. So many external voices, the voice of hell and the tempter, the voice of circumstance that I see around me at the age that I live. It is so important to see through that and know the voice of God for our life. To know that you are in Gods will and you are doing His purpose at this point of time.

And so when God speaks, when the Holy Spirit speaks, things happen. To know the heart, the mind, the will of God for our lives is important. So how do you hear Gods voice? At the book of Revelations we read;- He who has an ear, let him hear what the Holy Spirit is saying, are your Spiritual ears awake? Listen to words blowing through the Churches, have a heart to hear. Seek and you shall find, Knock and the door shall be opened, Ask and you shall receive. Have you a heart and desire to know God?

I do remember one occasion at a soaking session I attended the following message being given to me as the result of the evening.

"I felt God say, I am with you at all times. I surround you with my love and my strong arms uphold you. Do not be afraid." Isaiah 41 v 8-16. But you O Israel my servant Jacob whom I have chosen... you are my servant. I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my rightous right hand.

It was also stated how much God loves the company, and how He is always there waiting for me to come to Him at any time, day or night. And how thrilled He is to have me. The time I spend drawing near to God blesses His heart and brings Him pleasure.

Seek, Knock, Ask, God wants to be found! Find what is missing!
