HOW FRAGILE THIS LIFE

a writing by Nancy Ellen Crossland

As I held my precious great niece in my arms today, I couldn't help but to ponder on the sanctity and fragility of this young life. Just four weeks old with the world in all its beauty and flaws in front of her.

I was especially moved as I thought of the horrific, tragic events that occurred in Mumbai. Senseless, barbaric actions resulting in loss of those treasured lives. I also couldn't help to wonder if those responsible had held a precious infant in their arms that day and realized how each individual is a gift to the world to be respected and loved no matter what their beliefs were.

Would those events still had taken place? No one can answer that question, but we all can be aware to treasure each day and each person always.
