August 2009 Monthly Poetry Contest Winner Announced

Congratulations are extended to everyone who entered their poems this month.

All poems were read by three independent judges and every poem that received one or more stars from the judges was then elegible to be a finalist.

After careful consideration the winner, with an outstanding poem, is:

The poem called ANOTHER WINTER by Geoffrey Hoffman of the UKclick here to view and comment on poem

Congratulations, Geoffrey.

JUDGE COMMENTS: "...Wonderful creative poem with excellent use of imagery to describe winter. Good grammar and punctuation. Rhyme and rhythm flow effortlessly. Unusual start to the poem that gives it a sense of continuity of the seasons flowing throughout life. Cricket lovers will enjoy the “twisting of the wrist...” section that relates the changing season to that game. Clever use of words."
