JUDGE COMMENTS: "The poet expertly captures the poignancy of the moment and the emotions evoked by finding the body of an owl. A well structured poem with beautiful imagery....” e.g." His tigered feathers, Gentlest brown” It has good grammar and punctuation with excellent rhyme and rhythm that flows smoothly throughout to capture the moment and make this a very moving read. Congratulations to the poet."

JUDGE COMMENTS: "A hauntingly beautiful poem with wonderful imagery. "Bare treelines like soft brown smoke hover" paints a clear picture of what the author is portraying. Rhyme and rhythm are smooth and effortless. A delightful picture of the coming of winter and the mournful sound of a train whistle complete it. Congratulations to the author."

JUDGE COMMENTS: "A delightful Christmas poem that paints for the reader the beautiful picture of the Christmas Carol Singers in winter’s cold. Wonderful imagery, rhyme and rhythm convey effortlessly the Christmas message. Congratulations to the author."

All poems were read by three independent judges. Each judge could reward a star to a poem that was read if they thought it was a top poem. All poems that received one or more stars from the judges were then classified as finalists. The Finalists were then read and reviewed again in a final round of judging to then choose the top poems.
