Rufus Riddle No. 10

a writing by Rufus Brughs

Hey dear friends, as usual my riddles are for fun. So if you pass by and you want to take a swing at it, please do with full strength :).

This is Riddle No. 10: Let's see how SMART you are!

Here it goes:

"Should we be afraid of our own shadows,
Anytime we walk by!
Hence we long,
We long for more than we can ever consume,
For we dream; we dream that the happiness should never end,
We literally smile in doubt
Even when we ought not to,
For the sake of peace
And long lasting friendship we conjure... Butterflies; we think we are
But the most strange of all
Is that we are ordinary people
In thick skin to survive."

Question:
What is the above poem talking about?
