jelly bean cake

a writing by Kevin Rottweiler

grandma had a few ingredients. she would bake a cake. although times were hard, she knew the great depression would end. nothing could stop her wrinkled hands and worn out apron from a loving cake. and again, with limited resources she talked to god. in an hour she heard the door bell. a church wagon called. now upon her mighty stove sat two meaty beef pies and a jelly bean cake, colorful like the stones of heaven. she summoned the children and a grand time on hope street. (exodus l5:2)
