PASSING OF MARIE SMITH - OUR DEAR FRIEND

a writing by Nancy Ellen Crossland

It is with great sadness in my heart that I share this news. Marie's daughter has announced that her dear Mum had passed away in the early morning hours today.

For those of you who have had the pleasure of knowing her, you know what a strong and resilient woman she was. Having to overcome many personal obstacles in her life including her failing health over the years. Always she seemed positive and upbeat with her lovely smile and flowing raven hair.
Her love of her family was foremost in her life; as was her friends, love of poetry, and music.

I had the honor of speaking to her a few weeks ago and we chatted like old friends even though we had never met in person. I had written a poem about her and revised it a bit and sent it about 6 weeks ago. She was so moved she asked if it could be read at her service when she passed. Of course, I was overcome with emotion such as I have never experienced.
Today, Tamra messaged me and said it would be read. I am so beyond words at this time.

I know she had a great love and respect for many here and the feeling was certainly mutual.

We send our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Tamra, her family and Marie's many friends around the world. May she rest in eternal peace with her beloved husband, son and other loved ones. She is out of pain and in that garden where we all hope to meet one day.
