Thoughts on a Black Friday

a writing by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Dear Friends,

I chose to stay at home this day, not to be affected by the constant invitation to the promised huge discount offers on this Black Friday. I did it last year and it was impossible to find a parking place. It took me a long time to get out from the long traffic jam. I thought it was madness!

So today I stayed home and used time to sort out things, things I bought years ago or things I collected but never been used . So on a Black Friday I reduced the bulk of things I have kept for years and decided to pack them as give aways to refugees whom I would like to celebrate Christmas with or bring some of these collected, used and unused goods to the second hand shop.

So today I have saved myself from the fever of Black Friday and have delivered myself from the stress on the road. There will always be time to find Christmas gifts for loved ones even in normal shopping days.

Happy Advent and Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my friends at Voicesnet.com.

Sincerely yours,

Elizabeth
