LEST WE FORGET

a poem by Thelma Elizabeth Zaracostas, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

FROM THE PEN OF TRINITY MICHELLE ZARACOSTAS

LEST WE FORGET

He sits, in a lonely room
cobwebs, gather dust
as they hang
from the grimy ceiling
dull grey
hanging limply
as, do his thoughts
cobwebs
head lowed,bowed
yet there are no prayers
hands clasped
, upon a cluttered table
cluttered with dishes
mouldy food
newspapers
containing, old headlines
old news
like his life,old news
there is nothing ahead
nothing to raise his head for
for tears will still fall
untill his life sets,
like the winter sun
BY TRINITY.
