Sweet Peas

a poem by Thelma Elizabeth Zaracostas, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

I have been waiting for so long
Have I done something wrong
I showered you with love
still you refused to show me
that-love and care were not enough.

From my window
I watched, you grow, so tall and strong
you embraced the sun.
shining brightly, on you my love.
I knew you would prove me wrong
love and care, would find a way
A beauty you were to behold
As you began to happen
my mother's sweet peas
burst into flower.
