LIFT WALLS ARE MEANT FOR EXPRESSIONS

a poem by Satheesan Rangorath, India - poetry writer, author, poet

Speed lift takes you up past several floors
For fear of indecency you avoid
Staring at co-passengers,
Just to pass time you observe;
Obscene writings on unpainted lift walls,
There are pictures too.
A massive display of expressive frustrations
A caricature of lower human mind,
Depicted in every colour,
In every shade of emotions,

Now you don’t see any one.
Suddenly an arrow pierces
Adjoining lover’s heart drawn above,
You remember madness of love.
Smiling inside, you alight,
bumping into a lady waiting for lift,
She giggles.
