THE STORM

a poem by Gail P. Kay, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

Dark clouds blot out the sun
And angry thunder rolls around
As the sky takes vengence
On the ground
Beneath
With darts that burn and sear
With massive heat
Exploding with a power
Untamed
By man or beast;
Lightning! The thunder roars
Then suddenly,
Heavy
Falls
Begin,
of raindrops
On the roof above me.
And I sense that
Earth, mighty earth,
Cringes
Beneath the onslaught
Of its once peaceful
Mantel of blue,
And arrogance
Lays bear
Its soul again
To humbly receive
That life bearing water
RAIN!
