INNOCENT BLOOD

a poem by Gail P. Kay, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

911 - It was an act of war against the world.
Without declaration, apart from spoken hatred,
Insanity attacked!
Uncaring of innocence.
Without concern that
Thousands would die
On the altar of insanity.
Should America go to war?
What a crazy question!
It has no choice,
War has gone to America!
And not only to America
But to the world.
From so many nations innocent victims;
Innocent!
People just going about their working lives.
Hurting no-one.

Sane people hate war.
But innocent blood cries out
For Justice
And justice must have its day
If there is to be peace.
Peace is a birthright
bought and paid for
by soldiers' blood.
It is fought for,
died for,
it is not free!
Someone paid the price.
