Chance Of War.

a poem by Mark Ainslie, UK

Chance Of War.

Political aggravation,
ignites the cauldron of war.
Do the innocent victims know,
what the fighting is for?

Despicable motivation,
adds fuel to the catastrophic fire.
The consequences for many,
will be horrendously dire.

Perpetual persecution,
from warlords, and powers that be.
Display unrivalled hostility,
for all the world to see.

Continual retaliation,
sparks a cry for revenge.
Tit for tat killings,
somehow make amends.

Irresponsible destruction,
unforgiving carnage we see.
How unimportant and trivial,
the price of life must be.

Financial retribution,
is the motive, I am sure.
To feed the political giants,
ever hungry for a chance of war.
