a poem by Pushpalata Venugopalan, India

Plucked from the toils of a daily life
And tossed into a land so full of peace;
'Twas as if time stood still,
But the mind raced in its journey at will!

Providing more scope for introspection
The heart's inmost chambers lay revealed;
Each day shew a glimpse into yet another door,
Discovering treasures so far hidden from self.

Past hurts and agonies become the present,
The wounds and bruises as though fresh;
All things with a newer perspective gleam
As past incidents acquire new meaning!

Oh!To put the clock back! Oh! for a wiser me!
Oh! For a chance to right the wrong
So unwittingly done by hand!
"Oh! for a blow in the teeth of the wrong!"
