Conversation With God

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

I used to think that You were't real,
I thought You were pretend.
The Bible was just a fairy tale,
a book that mommy read.

In church I tried to listen
but I'd usually just fall asleep.
Not wanting to hear about You,
I would close my eyes and dream.

But then I grew much older,
and my problems knew no end,
and I remembered that the preacher
had told me You could help.

Now I know You're real
and You love me very much,
hand in hand and step in step
You never leave my side.
