Last Smile

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

I cry for you,
I cry for me,
I cry for things
that cannot be.

I am so useless,
blind and broken,
losing hope with
each word spoken.

I cannot sleep,
I shake from fright,
get on my knees and
pray all night.

I do not know
what kind of sorrow,
will take my hand
if I rise tomorrow.

Please let me smile
just one more,
before my tired heart
will shut her door.
