Fairy Tales

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

It’s the same story and no
matter how many different ways
you write it or how many details
you add it always ends the same.

It doesn’t matter how careful
you arrange everything or how
much thought you put into the plot
in the end someone always gets hurt.

Even in fairy tales someone lives
happily ever after while someone
that nobody pays attention to is left
crying and only death can calm them.

I always wished life could be a fairy tale
without realizing that’s exactly what it was
only instead of being the princess I was the
one that nobody paid any attention to.
