Too Real

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Cut yourself a new world.
Laugh yourself away.
Make new dreams. Better
yet forget about dreaming.
This is too real.
Band-aids can’t heal
broken hearts. You’re on
your own. Pretending won’t
change that. Keep yourself
drugged on pills. They
won’t take away the pain but
they keep you numb.
Don’t cry. Tears slip
down anyway. They are
too real. Bring too much
pain. Forget emotions.
They do you no good.
Sludge through till tomorrow.
Cut yourself a future.
This is too real.
