Paul's Poem

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Why did I bother with a
second chance when I
knew it would only hurt me.
Why did I agree to become
just friends when I knew
it would only break me.
I was soaring on clouds
when reality struck me.
My graceful fall was
a bittersweet dance
of confused heartaches.
You showed me that love
is only a child's fairy tale
without a happily ever after.
