An Angel Child

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Ever so lovingly,
an angel child bends
over a dying rose.

Her golden curls
cascade down her
little head.

And like a crown,
a wreath of flowers
rests upon her curls.

Her loving fingers
free the rose from
the weeds suffocating it.

And her cool breath
perfumes the rose with a
sweet fragrance and gives it life.

Picking up the hem
of her white gown,
she surveys her work.

The extricated rose
now has a beautiful
hope for the future.
