Innocent Love

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

In the corner of a small
and neglected room,
the cries of a child
rest on the stuffy air.

Left once more in the
care of her only sister,
she cries out for the
mother that didn't care.

Her mother has returned
and not knowing a thing
about hate she reaches out
to the woman before her.

She is pushed aside by
dirty hands but still she
tries to hug the tired
woman who didn't care.

Such big innocent love
for such a small child who
wants nothing more than
the love of her mother.
