A Little Girls' Prayer

a poem by Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Montik, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Dear God,
I know You must be busy having
to listen to all of those prayers and
helping people all the time but I
wanted to try reaching You anyway.
You see, I have this one tiny problem
that makes Mommy cry all the time and
Daddy who is brave looks so scared.
They say it’s called cancer.
I don’t want them to be sad cuz I know
I will see You and I won’t hurt anymore.
So you see, I can’t come live with you yet
cuz I love my Mommy and Daddy very much.
I know You will understand and maybe You
can save my spot in Heaven for me.
Now that I told you, I better go tell Mommy
so she would stop crying and smile again.
Goodnight God. Tell Jesus I love Him.
Love, your daughter.
