SPORTS DAY

a poem by Jacinta Ramayah, Malaysia - poetry writer, author, poet

It is here at last,
the scene is set,
Everything in place
deadline is met.

Blue, yellow, violet
and red,
All four houses in
glory arrayed.

A pistol blast and
the little ones dash,
Their parents watch
proudly blessed.

Straight, curved,
long black lines,
The finish is the
winner’s design.

With fingers crossed
for fine weather,
"Hip-hip-hooray!"
the day's finally over.
