a baby's touch - sonnet

a poem by Liliana Negoi, Romania

what could be sweeter than a baby’s touch
caressing softly with his hand your face?
how could one not surrender to this much
too tender gesture, needing of embrace?

how could one not remain in sudden awe
admiring the amazement in his eyes?
that wondrous air of innocence could thaw
the iciest of souls in endless sighs…

and how could any person on this earth
not open up their heart to this divine
and priceless moment, which is giving birth
to life itself, so delicate and fine?

that tiny being reaching out for love
is living proof of angels from above…
