SCHOOL BELLS RING

a poem by Lee Emmett, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

school bells ring
shush, says teacher
dazed and dizzy
both ears ping
from the screecher
on loud PA busy

inkpot dribbles
pen knib scratches
blot big blob
pencil scribbles
watch those blotches
use eraser, rub

rip through paper
scrunch whole bunch
teacher cracks
pound the stapler
looseleaf crunch
ruler taps, then whacks
