PITTER PATTER (Onomatopoeia)

a poem by Lee Emmett, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

pitter patter
wets corrugated
roof again

drips, puddles
running gutters
dribbling down
quick, slam shutters

drops sprinkle
limpid pools
ripples gleam like
sparkling jewels

frothy drains
where bubbles pop
hatching tadpoles
drool, croak, hop

in swift current
water gushes
washing rocks
and bullrushes
