a poem by Drsudarsan Damodar Prasad, India - poetry writer, author, poet

A monster pride-
Fought with another,
Called ego.
Who is the winner,
At the end of battle?
The sparks which-
Flew out of the clash-
Of swords!

Sparks became flames,
Flames became forest fires,
They devastated green pastures,
And fertile fields,
Still burn fiercely.

Gave birth to insatiable ego,
And unquenchable thirst
For enjoyment!
The fires of desire-
Which can never be putout,
By men or winds with rains
