Better Days Ahead

a poem by Linda Bates Terrell, USA

Yesterday was pay day,
Each purchase I sparingly weigh,
Today I gaze upon my empty wallet,
No purchasing an expensive gift,
No fine car to for vallet parking,
Not even a cute little dogie barking,

As I look upon my vast stack of bills,
Tender thoughts, of no future frills,
Adding over time one more day,
As I gladly sit to pray,
No time for leasurly fishing,
No vacation this year, just wishing,

I've piled upon the stack one more bill,
A list groceries I must fill,
So if your day is a good as mine.
Sit as I on the porch swing,
For better days ahead, to pine,
