Mastication Celebration

a poem by Leslie M. Owens, USA

Mastication is a daily action
That leads to most excellent satisfaction
Thrice daily usually, but sometimes more
Everyone does it rich or poor!
Some do it alone even on the sly
Or with their families on the fourth of July
Be aware that courting rituals in our society
Encourage couples to masticate with great variety
At the movies, parks or the family reunion
Some even masticate during holy communion
While the elderly may need to use artificial means
Of masticating their daily cuisines
The very young have issues too
Because being toothless they cannot chew
So please be advised on the mastication subject
Make sure that your teeth, you always respect
Otherwise you will have various adventures
Trying to eat your food while wearing dentures
